Though it would undoubtedly make for great listening while deep amongst the suds, Peach’s latest is more than just music to bathe to. Inspired by a visit to a bathhouse in Japan and directed by her natural energy fluctuations, ‘Soak Vol 1’ is a salve for body and mind. ‘Bathtime Bliss’ sets the tone, bright arpeggios gently popping through a drifting melody. ‘Rainy Season’ slows time to a meditative crawl, as real-world rain sounds, synthetic chirrups and a faint ticking build a welcoming dreamworld. For those craving something more meaty, ‘Batangas Beat’ and ‘Accidental Zoom’ bring sturdy drumwork — the latter sounding vaguely like an electro remix of something from the Twin Peaks soundtrack….
