Germany is moving to formally recognise nightclubs as cultural institutions, giving them stronger protection from eviction and redevelopment under proposed planning reforms.
Under the proposed changes, approved by the German federal cabinet, nightclubs would be reclassified as “providing cultural and artistic value”, and no longer grouped with adult entertainment businesses like casinos, strip clubs, and brothels for planning purposes, The Guardian reports.
